Frequently Asked Questions

So you registered for the site, now what?  You can read our Terms of Use.  Here are some of our frequently asked questions to help!  If something isn’t covered, let us know!

How long will it take for a response after I register?

Please make sure that you have your profile filled out.  It makes it easier for us to approve your application.  If you have it filled out, we ask that you give us 2 business days.  If you haven’t heard back from us, let us know either on Discord, Twitter, or email.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is information stored on your computer about a website.  This means if someone clicks on your link but doesn’t buy anything that information about your affiliate link is stored.   This will allow you to get credit from them clicking on your link even if they leave the site right after clicking on it.  Cookies vary from company to company.  Sometimes they stay for a few hours or a few days.

What is CPVM and CPC?

CPVM is Cost Per Viewer Minute. Viewer minutes is a representation of how much time people spent watching your stream. 100 people watching you for 1 hour is 6000 viewer minutes. CPVM is that rate at which you earn money based on viewer minutes. CPC is Cost Per Click. A CPC campaign pays you for each time someone clicks on a specific link.

Can I use my links outside of Twitch/Mixer?

Yes!  Make sure you are disclosing (explained more below) that it is an affiliate link.

How do you choose who gets in on a campaign?

This varies depending on the campaign.  Some companies have certain requirements we have to meet.  We will post in Discord, Twitter, and usually email when a campaign is happening.  For example, we have worked with companies who only ship in the United States.  We disclose restrictions before you sign up for a campaign.

What is compliance?

This is fully disclosing when you are getting a product, payment, or other services for free.  We discussed this in depth on Bottlespark: Ignite episode 3.

How do I know if I am being compliant?

If you get a product for free, disclose.  If you benefit from someone purchasing through a link or using a code, disclose.  If you are being paid to stream a certain game or with a product, disclose.  If a campaign requires you to display certain banners, panels, etc. make sure you have those up.  Each campaign or affiliate link will have certain requirements.

How much of a cut does Bottlespark take?

We take a portion of each deal we negotiate and it varies based on the deal. It can be as low as nothing sometimes.

How do you figure out how much I get paid?

The terms before accepting an offer will go over how much you get paid.  There is also a transaction report that will help you keep track of your earnings.  If you have questions, feel free to ask us. If you are paid via PayPal, you should also account for some minor transaction fees that may occur.

When do I get paid?

We pay out on the 25th of every month.  Holidays do affect this sometimes, and we try to adjust in your favor if that happens.
